Resident Courses

Perry Center resident courses are aligned with the objectives of the “Defense Institution Building” (DIB) program of the Office of the Secretary of Defense. The Strategy and Defense Policy course (SDP), offered in Spanish, and the Caribbean Defense and Security Course (CDSC), offered in English, provide participants a solid foundation that promotes the strengthening of democratic principles vital for the establishment of security and defense institutions that are efficient, accountable, transparent and responsive to national political systems, especially with regard to good governance, supervision and control of defense and security forces, respect for human rights, and the rule of law. These two courses also promote an increased capability in the defense and security sectors to organize, manage and supervise their institutional missions in coordination with other public and private civilian agencies.
