October 05, 2012

On October 5th, the Washington Security and Defense (WSDS) Seminar concluded, closing out a week of enriching lectures and group discussions attended by 63 participants who, based in the DC metropolitan area, represent 19 nations from the Americas. The popular WSDS seminar brings together civilian and military policy professionals to examine issues including: divergent perspectives on strategy and national objectives, policymaking guidelines, and the dynamics of decision making in a democratic society. The WSDS seminar is unique to CHDS and is strengthened by the ability to gather a number of prominent security policy practitioners as guest lecturers throughout the week. This year, participants were treated to lectures from representatives of the US State and Defense Departments, SOUTHCOM, NORTHCOM, eminent local research institutions, in addition to members of the CHDS faculty.
