Mexico's National Defense College Visits CHDS

May 09, 2012

On May 9, 2012, the Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies (CHDS) had the honor of receiving a group from Mexico’s Colegio de Defensa Nacional (National Defense College, CDN) at the National Defense University’s Abraham Lincoln Hall. Dr. Richard Downie, CHDS Director, and Dr. Luis Bitencourt, CHDS Dean of Academics, welcomed the group headed by Major General Ernesto Aguilera Casados, CDN Director.

The group of 53 students and faculty from the Master's Program was briefed on the CHDS by Dr. Bitencourt. Also, CHDS professors Dr. Patricia Escamilla-Hamm, Dr. Luis Kun, Prof. Kevin Newmeyer, Prof. Guillermo Pacheco, and Dr. Isidro Saavedra presented a panel on a range of homeland and national security issues. At the conclusion of the program, guests enjoyed a catered lunch with CHDS faculty. CHDS is honored to be included in CDN’s annual visits to the United States, an illustration of the friendship between the two institutions.
